Ready to light the fuse 💣 !

It seems like so long since we have had something noteworthy to tell you about. As a band we have missed playing so much both practicing together and more importantly playing live. We hope you have managed to get through the majority of the last year unscathed and are finally ready for getting back out to the real 🌎! We can finally announce our first booking of 2021 at this years Lichfield Fuse Festival! It’s a 3 day event that is completely free and family friendly. Fuse Festival Due to Covid-19 the festivals normal fundraising has been severely curtailed right when they need it most to bring the community back together and keep the visitors, performers and volunteers safe. So if you’d like to help out then please go to their GoFundMe page http://www.gf.me/u/znhak9.

We will be taking to the Main Evolution Stage on Saturday 14th August, check out the gigs page for more details. We really hope you can make it and wish you all a great summer, take care, Ben from 5 Hills Out!!

The Narrowboat Session 3/3

Sorry it’s been so quiet recently, we are trying to find new ways to practice and write while in lock down. We hope you are all keeping safe and healthy. To cheer you up we have our final session from the Narrowboat Sessions. In their words: ‘After several years of quite literally missing the boat 5 Hills Out finally managed to come aboard late one evening when we pulled into Beeston. Consisting of Ben & Rebecca Liverman, Dave Coxon, Chris Clay & Andy Gurney, they all hail from the Ashbourne area and really did produce an absolutely superb, stonking session for us and if you'd like to hear more why not visit their page. In the meantime here's their third amazing piece for us, 'The Divide'. Just wait for their insanely prophetic chorus!’

New Music video for Snowfall

After a lot of hard work by Rebecca who is our fantastic saxophone and accordion player, we are proud to release our new music video for 'Snowfall'. The single is out now for pre order, please spread the word and let us know what you think :)

Let the Snow fall down... Our Christmas single is on the way!

image description5 Hills Out are releasing their first ever Christmas single ‘Snowfall’ tomorrow, 9th December on pre release and the single is live on 16th December The band were recently invited to record the single at The University of Derby by upcoming music production students Michael Saylliom and Dylan Rowsell. Both students brought a great energy to the track and Michael’s production skills captured not only the complex instrumentation but also the feel of the track. This will be the second release of 2019 on the band’s own label Culvert Collective Recordings, following on from the ‘Snug Sessions’ which was released in the spring.

The lyrics to the band’s latest offering reflect their concerns. Front man Ben explains about the song: “Snowfall is about fighting materialism and wanting to spend more time with family. It is for the people who don’t get the picture book Christmas and also the people who spend it alone, or fighting to survive in hospitals or on the streets. The chorus is about wanting the snow to cover up the broken towns and how a lot of people turn to drink to cover their problems at this time of year. It may sound depressing but the song is full of hope, heart and the overall feel is one that wishes for a better new year.

The single will be available from all the usual online music retailers including our online shop, here is the link Merry Christmas to you all xxxx

The Narrowboat Sessions part 1 of 3

As soon as The Narrowboat Sessions got off the flooded Upper Trent back in early August, they pulled over at Beeston to let us aboard. We finally managed to come and do a session for them after three years of trying. In their words “5 Hills Out really can produce a truly excellent protest song as you'll hear when you listen to their first brilliant song, 'Red Tape'. This is about living the life you please and fighting the system.” image description
